Google Search Console site is unverified: what to do?

Here are the steps to fix this problem.

In some cases, Google Search Console sites can be considered "unverified". In those cases, we will not be able to fetch data from your Google Search Console site.

The Problem

This problem can show up in a couple of different ways:


The Solutions

You've got two solutions available to fix this problem:

  1. You can change the site you selected. Sometimes there are multiple Google Search Console "sites" available for a website; you can try the other one(s)
  2. You can get your Google Search Console site verified:
    • Step 1: Follow the process in Google's documentation
    • Step 2: once that's done, you can either reconnect your Google Search Console account in Metrics Watch, or use the "Refresh account list" for that account (see image below)
